V & A Waterfront has record sale

Posted by propertysouthafrica on November 8, 2007

A penthouse at the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town was recently sold for R18,25m.This is the highest amount ever achieved for this type of penthouse in the Marina and it was sold within four weeks of being listed.

There are two sides to the Marina – the Bluff side which is mountain and canal facing and the Marina side which faces onto the marina. This particular apartment is on the Bluff side and its sale price is also the highest amount paid for a property in this particular section.

The main attraction to the buyer was the wraparound terrace which has a spectacular view of Table Mountain. The heated pool on the terrace overlooks the canal and the Marina.

The 416sq m apartment has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, one guest toilet, dining and lounge area, TV and study area, direct lift access, one storeroom and three underground parking bays. Its special features include a heated swimming pool, double volume ceiling, heated towel rails, state-of-the-art security system as well as the exclusive use of the clubhouse and gymnasium.

“The Waterfront Marina is near completion; once the construction of the final three buildings and Sol Kerzner’s One & Only Resort has been completed, the prices of these apartments are set to skyrocket,” says Nafeesa Mohamed of Fine & Country V&A Waterfront.

The Marina is within walking distance from the 5-star Cape Grace Hotel and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront shopping centre.

Once the construction of the last three buildings and the One & Only resort has been completed, the loch will finally connect the ocean to the Marina canal. The average property prices in the area have appreciated from R30k/sq m to an average of R48k/sq m and the prices continue to rise.
